High Schools

Frequently Asked Questions

What does participation involve?

Participating high schools will administer a 10-minute online survey to graduating seniors in the spring of their senior year. AIR will provide guidance to schools about how to administer the survey in-person, remotely, and in hybrid environments. The surveys will allow us to identify which students plan to attend a partner school and are eligible for the text messages. Participating schools will also distribute opt-out forms to parents/guardians (for students under 18).

What are the benefits to participating?

Research suggests that the use of text messages can break down the multi-step process of college matriculation to increase college enrollment, particularly for first-generation students. Participating in this project will give your school an opportunity to provide graduating seniors with support as they make the transition between high school and college. This support may be even more beneficial during the pandemic because in-person counseling services are less accessible. Schools that participate will also receive customized reports that describe their students postsecondary plans.

How do I sign on to this project?

High school counselors and/or principals can fill out the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by clicking here. This MOU is not legally binding but tells us that the high school intends to participate.
